OTT - F1 Testing

Wed Jun 20, 2007 10:45 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Went to the F1 testing at Silverstone today and I have to say I was impressed...

Always loved playing Microprose's GP2/3/4 and taking Copse close to flat, so to see it in the flesh was an eye opener. I've just read that on a qualifying lap, the entry to Copse is at 180-185mph, Shocked with sustained corner speed of 177mph Shocked Shocked and 5.2 lateral G.... Sweet holy motha!

Shame they're boring as hell to watch on TV, but I prefer the sheer engineering that goes into the cars than the actual racing. I mean they're pretty much upside down stunt planes with wheels on their roofs!

If they got rid of all the driver aids you'd instantly have a fun sport again...

Bugger! They were there today?! I wanted to go and watch the testing.

I think the last 2 races have been really good. Nice to see Alonso all flustered by the new boy!

It's on tomorrow too! A 3 day test. Only £10 for entry so far less than the races, and McClaren, Ferrari, Williams, Renault, Torro Rosso, Spyker, Toyota etc are all there. Kimi R set the fastest lap today.

They should be 2000cc W16 2-strokes though... About 850bhp - Unsilenced! Twisted Evil

i was there as well ! and standin at copse... i only live a few mile's away.
that was the busiest i have ever seen silverstone on a tyre test. and also the first time they have charged to get in.

nothin prepare's you for the noise and speed of f1. it's boring on tv but to be there is totally different. much the same as motocross , tv can't do it justice. imo the best motorsport to spectate , by far is pro motocross. if you have never been then check out a maxxis brit championship round or even the mx gp which is held at donington this year.

Yeah it was packed! Like a MotoGP round...

They are f'ing loud, although I reckon a Mazda 787B I once heard ( Quad rotor wankel Le Mans Prototype) would give them more than a run for their money, that thing was evil... Anyway, back to bikes! Wink
