There's a mc28 on ebay USA right now that is missing it's keycard. What would all need to be replaced to get a new matching keycard for it? Does the entire clock assembly with matching card need to be purchased, or is it possible to get a keycard to match the existing clock assembly?
Is there any good source for the parts that would be needed, and roughly how much $ should one expect to spend?
Just looking for pricing estimates for stock cards, not HRC
How many times is he going to sell the same bike? _________________ james

There's been a few post on this subject in the last month, but I'm quite sure that the std smartcards are no longer avaliable.......it'll have to be an HRC one I'm afraid.
yeah I've been watching this auction the past 4 or 5 times he's listed it. He's got a pretty tough sell on his hands. Essentially it's a high mileage bike that doesn't run. AND for some reason it HAS to be delivered outside of the US. Do you know the bike personally? I believe it is in Texas
So I'd need a new PGMIV ECU with matching card? Do the HRC cards always get sold with an ECU? Is there a workaround for using the HRC card with street legal lighting?
You'll need an 030 HRC card. The last one I bought was through tyga-performance.com in Thailand. You'll need to furnish them with the PGM's PIN number. It's printed on a silver sticker located on the back of the PGM IV and you can easily find this by removing the clocks.
Once you have all that Matt or Paul will be able to order you a card......takes about a month I think.
To get it to work with the standard loom requires you to cut and splice a couple of wires. Again the Tyga website shows you how. From memory it's located under the 'MC28 Power Up' section.

thanks!
Houston is about 200 miles from me so I don't know the guy. I thought about buying it myself but I don't have the spare cash. right now.
I thought somebody mentioned last year that the MC28 could not be registered in Canada because it was too new?
All things considered, its probably over priced, which is why it has not sold. _________________ james

yeah technically grey market vehicles need to be 15 years old before they can be registered here. But there are ways around that, if one is creative.
I'm planning on sending the seller a lowball offer, since he's obviously having a lot of trouble selling the bike _________________ n00b
i actually live in Houston texas and was also looking to buy it. im really new to the NSR. im totally lost, i dont even know what a key card is. if you could just post like a web-link to what i need to buy to get it to run, that would be awsome.
The kuy card is like a coded credit card. It has to be matched to the PGM and Honda Japan is the only one that can do that. Its not cheap! There are also 3 or 4 different cards with different fuel/ignition maps. As mentioned previously, this motor will need to be rebuilt sooner than later including new crankshaft. I talked to the owner a while ago and its going to need new tires, chains, etc right off the bat, and getting it registered may be more a challenge than usual. Figure the bike probably need $3,000 worth of work to be road worthy. _________________ james

You could always convert it to standard key ignition by fitting the electricals from an MC21. Nowhere near as trick, but perhaps cheaper? _________________ MC21SP Plaything

I would hold out for another bike. This bike may end up costing you more than it's worth. Plus it has no title, and that can be tricky. Mine had a title and it still got kicked back in my state. Just got it sorted out and in my name after three months. Also I got extremely lucky in that the one I bought was completly rebuilt, painted, new tires, brakes... everything. I bought it from a member of this site, who posted it on eBay. Sold for $6601. They are out there, you just need to take your time and find the right one. _________________ MC21

I'd like to add something about this bike. I found it odd when I emailed the owner that his response came from a UK email addy. Has anyone seen this bike in person?

I did call the guy at a Houston phone number. He sounded like he had a middle eastern accent. I asked him something specific about the bike and he told me the bike was was in storage. _________________ james
