Hi All
I am having a nightmare with the DVLA, basically my bike came from japan with a replacement frame with a number stamped where the vin would be. knowing what a pain in the arse the DVLA are i bought another 1988 mc18 frame and obtained the dating letter from Honda. I rebuilt the bike as seen in the photo's, mot'd and insured it.
Then attempted to register it on a age related plate, I sent a dating letter for the original bike based on the engine number, dating letter for the replacement frame and a long letter explaining my reasons for replacing the frame with one with an intact vin number.
Finally a letter had arrived back from the DVLA after 4 months saying it will have to be registered on a Q plate because it is built up from 2 bikes or i can register it as a reconstructed classic once i have a new DVLA vin stamped into the frame and supply them with a signed letter from the garage that stamped it and a Club Dating/ Report.
Hence my request for a Club dating/ report, that way i can register it on a age related plate.
My final option is to buy yet another 1988 frame with a V5.
Any help would be very much appreciated. _________________ NSR250 MC18 SP, KR1S, TZR250 3MA, RGV250 VJ22P
Disapointed mate,i was thinking you had found some good looking broads that were seeking men with nsr's _________________ ive seen more tarts than mr kipling
Obviously the simplest option is to buy another 1988 frame with a V5, and deny everything [Baldrick]!
I'm not sure if NSR-WORLD would be suitable as a bona fide "club", but if DVLA are prepared to accept a dating confirmation/report I am happy to knock something "official" up for you [and other Ti Members]. Obviously I would need to have photos of the bike/frame number/engine number etc. Not that I don't trust you, but I expect there would need to be a reliable paper trail, because official jobsworths just love that kind of thing!
Maybe call DVLA and ask them? Tell them NSR-WORLD is a UK based website, established in 2000, specialising in the JDM NSR250R, and see what they say. I don't want to blow my own trumpet, but I think I know my sh*t when it comes to being able to classify an NSR for the DVLA, who almost certainly know f*ck all! _________________ Andy.
