Hi All
I am having a nightmare with the DVLA, basically my bike came from japan with a replacement frame with a number stamped where the vin would be. knowing what a pain in the arse the DVLA are i bought another 1988 mc18 frame and obtained the dating letter from Honda. I rebuilt the bike as seen in the photo's, mot'd and insured it.
Then attempted to register it on a age related plate, I sent a dating letter for the original bike based on the engine number, dating letter for the replacement frame and a long letter explaining my reasons for replacing the frame with one with an intact vin number.
Finally a letter had arrived back from the DVLA after 4 months saying it will have to be registered on a Q plate because it is built up from 2 bikes or i can register it as a reconstructed classic once i have a new DVLA vin stamped into the frame and supply them with a signed letter from the garage that stamped it and a Club Dating/ Report.
Hence my request for a Club dating/ report, that way i can register it on a age related plate.
My final option is to buy yet another 1988 frame with a V5.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
