I have an MC21 with MC28 forks fitted and MC28 callipers to match. I came to refit the front wheel and it just doesn't look quite right regarding spacing, I wondered if anyone can help?
The large spacer is fitted to the right of the wheel as you look at the bike from the front, the smaller spacer is fitted to the left. The overall spacing looks correct in terms of overall length including the hub.
The discs seem to run central(ish) in the calipers (or near enough) but the discs rivets are a much closer clearance on the left fork leg than on the right.
I have included some images so you can see what I am describing...my questions are:
Does the '28 have uneven length spacers and do I have mine fitted in the correct orientation?
Is there a way to confirm what discs are fitted to this wheel? They are OEM Honda, just wondering if the offset is correct.
What an acceptable clearance value fork lower to disc should be?
Any help greatly appreciated 👍
Max
Note: There is roughly 4mm clearance one side and maybe 1.5mm on the other...

I dont sorry. and I cant even go out and check mine because my bike is not here right now. hopefully someone will have seen this before. my guess is the wrong spacers, but as i say its just a guess.
are the forks in properly at the triple clamp? sometimes they can move before they get tightened.
Hi Max the thicker of the two fits in the o/s it looks like you’ve got them in the wrong way
Please check the wheel is in the forks the right way round the forks se sp r model 21 28 all the same inc spindle let’s have a look at the wheel side on please
thanks jonmac

Thanks for getting back to me. I have the thicker of the two spacers fitted in the nearside, you mention the offside, so that might explain it!
I have them arranged that the spindle is inserted from the nearside, therefore the fork lower with the bigger diameter hole is also on the nearside and the spindle nut is threaded in from the offside...

I think so prelude, the spindle was lined up pretty well and the front mudguard went in ok (when after an hour of guessing I had to "phone a friend" and ask how to put it in, doh!!)

Pics to follow later.

This is hard to say in a public forum and I am embarrassed to say John that, on proper inspection this morning the wheel was in the wrong way round!! Simple idiocy was the issue!!

Humble in victory and gracious in defeat Jonmac, always the best way...not a good virtue for road racing though!!
Definitely not the first to do this. I have a "friend" who lent his MC18SP to Practical Sportsbike magazine and didn't notice his front wheel was in back to front until it appeared on the front cover of the magazine, very embarrassing for him

I bet your "friend" is a superb tech now, double checking everything and questioning everything 👍
