Well after a few a couple of months the bike is finallly all back together and working as honda intended, it feels like a completely differant bike, which i'm glad about as i was pretty disapointed, performance wise when i got it. List below of whats been done since i stripped it just after christmas,
New crank
Top end rebuild
replaced rc valves and shafts, nuts, bolts and washers
fully rebuilt the dry clutch
new clutch basket
new grips
throttle tube
new throttle cables
fitted the correct oil pump
replaced every engine seal
replaced all the clutch bearings,spacer tube, gearbox oil pump, gearbox seal plate, locating dowels, clutch basket bolts, gearbox holding bolts, water pump shim, gearbox circlips, air solenoid filter and front engine mounts that were all missing.
New coolant hoses
refurbed the radiator
fitted correct gearbox filler cap
new float bowl seals
spark plugs
cleaned airfilter
cleaned up the crankcases
fitted stainless side by side tygas
fitted a new clock surround
kmh to mph convertor
serviced and adjusted and balanced the carbs
plastic welded and resprayed one side of the rear seat unit
removed m-max box and spliced the loom
sealed up the airbox rubbers
lubricted all cables
Gave it a couple of heat cycles and went for aquick ride this afternoon, first thing is it starts, ildes and responds perfectly and i must say goes like the clappers, i was taking it easy, treating it to a final heat cycle but made sure the gearbox was working ok after re assembling it. on the couple of occasions i let it have it, it really went, it now has the top end i thought it should of had and would give my old rgv's a couple of black eyes.
once the weathers picked up i'll get it on the dyno to check settings and see what she puts out.
Next on the list is refitting a standard swingarm (its painted black at the moment) and having a look at the front brakes, which are a bit too wooden for me at the moment, no feel. perhaps have a look at the pads or maybe even stick a fireblade radial mc on it. Next winter i plan on getting the wheels refurbed and i'm going to start colloecting spare body pannels and return it to its pentax colours.

Thanks to the people who supplied me with a couple of the spares i required, hopefully one day i can return the favour.

They don't generally tend to rev much higher... your peak is bang on where it should be, so you won't see 60hp through revs.
I imagine there's some carburetion tweaking left in there and maybe some time for it all to bed in a little if it's freshly rebuilt. _________________ Andy.

Recent addition is a GSXR master cylindr £20 so its a nice cheap upgrade, got hold of some new but unwanted HEL lines too, which happened to fit perfectly, well nearly and found a bloke selling ebc HH pads for £7 a pair. Stripped the calipers down and cleaned up the pistons, re greased the seals and rebuilt those.
The res pot mount was a tw*t, but i've managed to bend the gsxr bracket and secure it between the yoke and ignition lock, all mounts up nicely now, the res pot looks a bit obtrusive in the pics bit its well out of your way / vision in reality, honda miro switch was even compatable and i had a spare lever so last night i bolted it all togeather and bled the brakes. a few pumps later and i'm seeing nice clear fluid. lever travel is perfect and solid. It will stop like i've hit the reverse button! bad news is after a big ride out sunday i found the rear tyre flat with a big nail in! at least it was only a part worn rennsport, bloody good tyre though.
Similar to my Nissin radial too. I think the CBR one just has a slightly more cranked lever. Mine's coupled to HRC calipers and 297mm full floating iron discs, and the braking is incredible.
I never honestly expected to "feel" much difference, but the brakes really are that much more progressive with the new radial master cylinder. _________________ Andy.

i think they're brilliant also, i put one on every bike i own, i'm hoping this one will be the same, on my rgv i had the same master cylinder and the prolite race discs and it was awesome, i cant remember what the corner is called at the end of park straight at cadwell but i could leave the braking so late into their it was unreal, all with one finger.
I love it when big-bike numpties "upgrade" perfectly good master cylinders to Brembos and the like, and then we can snap up damn good radial pumps for pennies! _________________ Andy.

That'll be Park Corner, want to be scared? Freddy Pett (he of 1.40.xx laps at Cadwell on 58 bhp Aprilia fame) has been seen to leave braking for Park Corner until AFTER the surface change split!

The GSXR or CBR Nissin radial M/C is a great up grade. I had one a few years back coupled to a set of SP1/Fireblade calipers and the stopping power was breath taking. I had to push so hard against the bars whilst on the brakes that I literally found it hard to breath.
For about £75 excluding brake lines is was a top upgrade.
