Wow! Did you do the conversion properly, if you check out Tyga's site, they have a step by step write up of how to do this, maybe check that out and see if things are wired up right, obviously somethings gone wrong....doubt its the card, probably the way it was de-restricted....but I'm no expert. Hope you get it fixed soon, cheers

Yep, you've done something wrong somewhere.

Wirespliced normal loom the bike functions as normal but minus the speedo, low oil warn, neutral indicator etc. and powers off when you remove the card just as the stock card does.

With the HRC loom the bike is always on unless it's turned off at the r/h switchgear. It won't come on without the card, but once turned on the card can be pulled out and it still works.

Or if you check the Tuning section of this Site even?! Rolling Eyes

Can you give use details on the "ethos-hrc" card you installed. Is it a card and PGM or did you install the HRC harness also? Was the wire splice involved? More details please.

pgm 4 hrc problem

Sat Aug 23, 2008 10:32 pm » Post: #6 » Download Post

i was able to make it work. it runs now both on the ethos and hrc card and also runs on regular pgm iv card. my only problem, i can make the bike run even without the card. i can remove the hrc or regular card and still have the display on, and thus i still can start the bike without any card at all...i think what i did is make my bike easy to get stolen! HELP!!!

hello. i read in one of the replies that with the hrc loom the bike still can run even with the card pulled out. that is what i have right now...i didnt do any normal loom splicing. but when i went back to the non-hrc setup, the bike still wont turn off even without the card...and i still can restart the engine without the card.

I believe that is something to do with racing. It would be rather dangerous if the card "fell" out for some reason and the motor died (everything that can fall off should be lock-wired to prevent it from doing so!), so I think the idea is to initiate the ignition with the required card, and then pull it when you set off.

If you had an off mid race, the fact it will re-start without the card suddenly makes sense, does it not?

thanks andy. i see your point and i agree with the logic. now, how do i reverse this so i can just go back to the street legal setup...i know i can kill the engine by the righthandle bar on/off switch...but how can i reset the pgm 4 to turn the display off...a toggle switch placed in the wiring?

Do something for me.

Go outside, start the bike then turn it off (on the handlebar power switch), remove the card and leave it for 10 minutes.

Now flick the power switch without the card in place.

Nothing should happen.

I've said 10 minutes but that's huge, on my racebike (with the HRC loom) it's about 15 seconds you have to leave it for before the screen doesn't come on and it won't start.

I still think you've spliced one wire too many, on my roadbike removing the card still used to kill it, even with the splice done.

still not working

Mon Aug 25, 2008 12:40 am » Post: #11 » Download Post

hello fontyyy, i tried leaving it without the card for 15 mins and display still remains on...and i still can start the bike...i didnt splice anything on the wiring as this was done by the previous owner so i haven't really seen how it is done (i.e. if it is similar to instructions in the tyga website)...i plan to look at the wiring but what am i exactly looking for? which color?

the ethos adapter card just instructs me to hook up the adapter blue/orange wire to the red card in switch wire, then hook up the red/blue wire to the red/black wire...then connect the ethos adapter plug to the pgm 4 box and then connect the original black plug on the pgm 4 to the ethos adapter...

thanks for your patience...i'm really no expert on this.

But did you turn it off? My racebike will stay on until the battery is flat if you just pull the card out, but if you turn it off you need the card to turn it back on after about 15 seconds.

Whatever, something is still wrong as removing the card turns off a bike with the road loom, spliced or not.

There are three wires on the black connector that need connecting to ground rather than their respective connections, light green/red (neutral switch), green/pink (oil level indicator), green/white (side stand switch), the ground wire is green.

I would also suspect just unplugging those three items (neutal switch, oil level indicator and side stand switch) would also allow the HRC card to function as all that matters is that no signal arrives at the PGM from any of those items. On the race loom those wires aren't even there.
