A real formula 3 engine

Heres the start of something,

HRC MC21 F3 crank cases, HRC F3 crank, HRC pistons, re-worked barrels, HRC F3 head gaskets, remachined heads, HRC F3 ignition.

Just at the measuring volume stage of the build, should have it running in a few weeks

Well, it is only an F3 motor, and therefore eligible for F250... Wink

Er, no... cos those are fitted to an HRC crank!! Very Happy

Leigh's are from another manufacturer - most likely Suzuki or Kawasaki.

ohh damn it. Thanks Matt, I thought it was light.

The only F3 gear box I know of is now in Andys bike so no, I think I will just end up using a stock box out of a '21.

Lots of research, lots of string pulling! Smile

Mmm... HRC F3 carbs... No 2T unions, no TPS, no remote idle adjuster... Very Happy

Ooh, it's gonna be a flier!!

Hmm... I'm interested to know what the score is with running no TPS... How does that affect the ignition? Is it becaus you don't need it with the HRC loom? If so, I might go that way, because mine was a pain to set up with the 38's due to their lack of sensor mount also...

Yes it uses a HRC loom but it also uses a HRC PGM with no TPS so its not just a case of running a HRC harness. The HRC loom is also designed to work with the HRC reg rec and pick ups etc.

How did you manage to set your tps up in the end maxim? I did a whole load of runs to find the best with some very interesting results.

Yeah, like you it was probably twist and see! The 1st run, I think it made 12bhp... Laughing

Then another, it had a Grand Canyon flat spot at about 7000, making about 6bhp, then in the space of about 200rpm, jumped up to about 50ish!

So how does the HRC PGM and loom combo affect or supplement what the TPS used to do? I know of a PGM I think, and also an HRC loom... It runs fine at the moment anyway, but I don't have it on the road anymore, so I may as well ditch the standard loom and lights etc and put the spindly HRC one on!

I'm still not sure it's set at maximum properly... But it was as good as we could get it.
