Programable Ignition Units

Mon Jun 03, 2013 2:48 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

Long Story Short - purchased a PGM and parts off a gentleman (I use the term very loosely) that was already burnt out, got extremely frustrated put the bike in storage and wrote it off as a bad / expensive joke. I've found myself with a little more disposable cash and would like to try get it running and out to the track again.

Short story shorter, is this http://www.zeeltronic.com/page/honda.php a viable alternative for the burnt out PGM or am I better getting the one I have repaired??

Kind regards Michael.

There has been some progress made with an Ignitech if you do a search you will find the posts.

The unit you want is the 20V (or 25V) you would then have to grind 3 of the 4 lobes off the rotor to get the Zeeltronic to work correctly. That was done as well with a Ignitech and the earth continued to turn and the bike ran just fine after doing that. Borut from Zeeltronic would need a NSR to configure the software/hardware to use 4 lobes, he can do that but would need the bike in Slovenia.
Money very well spent.

Speak to Matt at TYGA.

I was over there a month or so ago and we had a MC21 running with all 4 lobes on the fly wheel.

The kit they do is now plug and play into the stock MC21 loom.

I think that we're all on the case with this.

Mark, I've sent you an email, so I expect you'll be in touch.

I will throw a big thanks to Stephen in here as he was a good help while we were testing and documenting everything on the standard electronics. We had some head scratching of course, as the OEM PGMIII is pretty clever given that it's ancient, but a few cups of tea and we'd sorted it out. Thanks to Paul for arranging the cups of tea.

We had it running pretty much straight away, but had some misfires.

I'd been studying the Ignijet fuel injection units, with a view to a future project, and noticed something about the synchronisation....blah blah blah which is not mentioned in the DC-CDI documentation or software.....so I contacted the Czecho boys and after a bit of discussion with our ideas they rewrote the firmware and sent it back to me and BINGO......ran like a champ.

Concerning the Zeeltronic ignitions. I can't comment except to say that there's one over there fitted to that RGV300 in the corner of my office. Just don't feel as comfortable with the Zeeltronic as I do with the Ignitech, but many an RGV/RS owner has had good results with them.
