Well, here in the U.S. there is absolutely no chance of a 2 stroke ever being legalized for the road again. EVER! Therefore I have to also say that I've been drooling over the Aprilia engine. Not as a replacement for my NSR, just an additon.
We can have a 250 stroker on the street, and that's all that matters!!! In fact, if you want to, here in the UK you can legally run an RS250 (a real one, not an Aprilia!) on the street with pretty much nothing more than a horn, rear brake light, and a set of treaded tyres, so there!
By the way, that's tyres with a "y"! _________________ Andy.

you dont even need the brake light, for a daytime only MOT all you need is a hard wired horn (no bells or hooters......mmmmmmm hooters) _________________ MC21SP - Roth-tax

I think you better read the MOT reg's before you put anything on the road Monkey. Nothing should be on the Queen's highway without a brake light! _________________ Andy.

only going by what my MOT bloke said when i enquired about a daytime only for the CBR, if it aint there i cant MOT it he said, the MOT rules in this county are archaic (good ) stupid things like lights...if you have a bulb out, cover the light with a bit of tape and it will pass......how stupid is that. _________________ MC21SP - Roth-tax

I've just got off the phone with an actual, real life, certified (or maybe certifiable!) MOT tester, and he says you MUST have a horn and a rear brake light!
Anything else fitted must work! So, if you have an indicator switch on the handlebars, then indicators must be fitted and working. No switch, no indicators - that's fine.
Race pipes are OK, so long as (at the testers discretion) they aren't too loud, but it's more likely to be the airbox/carbs that are louder! No more BSAU196 or whatever it was.
Oh, and road-legal treaded tyres.
MOT it on the frame number, send the MOT off to DVLA, and they'll issue a V5. A certificate of date of manufacture with the MOT certificate will probably get you an age-related registration number instead of a "Q" plate.
There you go! Always willing to research the facts for the cause! _________________ Andy.
