MC18 Revive

Mon May 17, 2010 9:05 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Some of you know the SEED MC18 ive recently got off billy, cheers mate. Im resisting to strip it too far just yet as planning to ride it as much as poss this summer but come winter she'll get the full treatment, She's a keeper this one Razz
The fairings are off and its clear the 1 or 2 years off road have taken there toll but its all there and nothing broke that cant be fixed easily, the engraved honda racing engine casing says theres a good bike there, last time i saw something like that was on a SP1 and you just know there's something special under there. The Misses even likes the bike so she's finally learning, still cant convince her to sell the "gixxer" Razz though
Seeing as the MC18 seems the clostest brother to the RS250 it seems only fit to source some RS parts. Definatly keeping the SEED colours and maybe add the SEED rep decals and gold wheels as its due a tyre change. Solo seat options are a pain on the MC18, not much about apart from silhouette Confused
Anyways pics to come and no doubt a million questions Laughing

Well the NSR's 1st ride was cut very short yesterday due to a dead battery, charged it and it cooked itself so ordered a new one along with some braided lines, res pots and a fresh set of BT090's.
I must have dislodged the rear seat lock cable when i had the seat unit off as i can no longer remove the rear seat, feels as if the cable has come off, is this a common problem on NSR's?
Anyways thought id give her a good degrease today as i cant ride her, lots of corroded bolts and brackets found but so far resisted removing them for powder coating as when the tyres turn up (hopefully today) i'll be itching to get out on it.

Got a few little jobs done on her today, the infamous oil pump seal had gone so took the oppotunity to strip out the lube system for a degrease, fresh gearbox oil(again!), fitted the F3 HRC riser plates which aswell as looking a lot better it now feels as if im sitting on the bike rather than in it. Some nice renthal grips, a bubble bath and a good polish and im amazed how good she looks for a 21 year old bike, honda at its best once again.
Apart from tyres, brake lines, some SP forks ive got lined up and a decent shock (still looking) this is pretty much how shes gunna stay untill winter.

I'd like to see it with the original white wheels again... but that's just me!

Drop me a line if you want some HEL lines... Carbon and Ti Members get discounted rates! Wink

Yep theres just something about the 18 thats classic, 21's and 28's are GP porn tho. Id love one oneday.

Im with ya on the white wheels although in genaral i prefer black, original is always best. Im considering a SEED rep, gold wheels and SEED decals but undicided on that one. Were see, for now im just gunna enjoy a 2 stroke for the summer Very Happy its been 15 years since riding one properly. Happy dayz

Thanks to fontyyy this SP shock should improve things a little

Compared to the tired original unit its a million times better, fresh tyres are on and just awaiting some trick SP forks from another forum member and thats the bouncy bits sorted Very Happy

From the few times ive rode the bike the engine feels very smooth although no real big kick of a powerband like i was expecting but revs out cleanly and easily so i dont think theres any issues there.

Ok your not all going to like this but ive dumped the original knackered speedo for an acewell unit

It needs to be spaced out an inch or so and a nice CF or ally surround made but its already much easier to see than the standard unit and was dead easy to install and setup, it picks up the speed from the standard speedo drive and just plugged straight in Very Happy

On another note the 21 SP forks are now fitted and are a huge improvement

Hey Munky, Good job on the 18, I wish that I still had my old one with the same colour scheme. I currently now ride an MC28.
Just a question on the acewell speedo unit, how could I get hold on one?, especially over this side of the world.
This is in anticipation for when I get the swipe card unit re programmed to 030.
cheers
