1989 MC18SP restoration

Mon Aug 10, 2009 6:43 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Picked this up off a forum member a week or so ago less body work which would of normaly been the hardest bit to find.

As luck would have it I had some genuine SP body work in the cellar meaning I could return it to it former colours.

The plan is to restore it to as near as I can to OE spec.

The only mods so far are a wire splice, moded air box as well as F3 shock, swinging arm and shock linkages. Of course being an MC18 and not a '28 it doesn't need much work to make it work well.

I've got some F3 heads to fit as some stage but thats as far as the mods will go. From the outside and to most I hope it will look factory OE.

Should be nice once it's finished.

Very nice, I think thats one of the nicest SP's they done. The mc18 sp's seem to be the rarest of all the models as well.

Very nice. With all the F3 parts you seem to have laying around have you ever considered changing your user name to F3Stephen Smile

Got the top yoke and H frame back from painting. Waiting on the clutch purch and brakes now.

Taking the forks into work tomorrow for rebuilding and stripping of the black paint. Looks good so far.

An RS in those colours looks fantastic. You used to be able to buy those Gull Arms for the '18 too.

Got the rest of the stuff back from the painters.

Exhausts look really good now, for how long we will see.

Now if I could just find the bloody stickers I need!
