more power from my bike

Mon Mar 14, 2005 10:37 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

so ive been riding my recently aqquired 250r MC16 1988 over the weekend. And although its pleasently quick, you really have to wring its neck to get the speed (i know i know its a stroker) .

So what are the best steps to get get some easy power? preferable low down power.

Am i right i thinking this '88 model doesnt have any PGM resrictions?
It does have some K&N s on it, and i belive its been rejetted.

Any quick ways to a bit more power?

Cheers

Buy a 600?

There is no way your really going to give a 250 alot more bottom end.. there not about that. The MC16 is held back more by its carbs not its electronics. You will get a better increase of power if you fit a set of MC18 carbs. There are a few people on the site that are in the process of doing that right now. Im sure one of them will reply to you.

Er, yeah... to Jeff350lc! :)

I have 2 more sets of MC21 carbs that could be up for grabs though. I am waiting to hear from "elegy" as to whether he still requires them for his NS400 project, but if I don't hear soon (say the end of the month), I will offer a set to you.

You will need to source an inlet manifold from an MC18 or MC21 to suit the larger carbs.
