NSR150SP Cylinder & Piston, Type A, B, C

Thu Feb 17, 2005 3:17 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

To all senior riders, recently due to some unforeseen circumstances, I had to change my Cylinder, Piston & Piston Ring. I went to my agents to enquire some details. To my findings in the parts catalog, I realised tat they have 3 types of cylinder & piston. It is as follows:

Cylinder A - Piston A
Cylinder B - Piston B
Cylinder C - Piston C

What's the difference between A, B, C?

They are all different sizes. You have to pick a piston that suits the barrel you got. The sizes shoudl be in the work shop manual.

yes barrel is the cylinder. and if you have a C cylinder, use the C piston.for the correct running clearance.

Please click image for larger view...

The 150 is unique in that an "A" cylinder uses an "A" piston and so forth, whereas with all the 250's, an "A" cylinder would use a "B" piston!

More info for the 250's cyliner/piston configuration can be found on the relevant pages of the Online Parts Manual.

If you use the recommended cylinder and piston combination then the performance between the three sizes available would be so small you couldn't measure it. if you have to buy a new cylinder and piston then order whichever is available.

From what I've seem, the B is the most common fitment to the stock machine.
