MC18 barrels and pistons fit MC16?

Wed Jan 28, 2009 10:22 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hi, was wondering if mc18 barrels and pistons fit an MC16? as I have seen some '18 items for sale but no joy with '16 pistons etc!

Thanks!
Paul

'18 has a bloody great exhaust port compaired to a '16 and power valves to match.

Ah I see, new to these nsr's really. Know about Lc's and tzr's and rgv's though Laughing

Is it worth getting carbs to match too? Any other worthy upgrades worth mentioning?

Thanks!

MC18 carbs are a good upgrade too. They are 32mm compaired to the 28mm on the MC16.

Once you've done that you're pretty much up there power wise if its got a good bottom end in it.

Sound, what sort of power gains should I expect to see with that combo?

Is it worth buying exhausts for it or do stock work best?

Thanks

An MC16 motor with '18 barrels/heads and carbs should make 58-60hp or around 2-4hp more than a RGV!

Stock '18 pipes are super. Never run a set of stock '16 pipes so couldn't say. I would guess '16 pipes will be fine tho.

To really get a '16 motor to go you need to get inside the cases. It's quite a bit of work though for around another 2hp.

'18 barrels, carbs and heads are the best and cheapest way to get good power from one.

'18 ones are yes. Or you can use '21/'28 pistons but must use them as a pair as the skirt are a little shorter. Better to use '18 ones though.

I have turned down '18 pistons to run in '21 motors hav'nt I Andy. That went really well infact!
