Longer throttle cables Required

Mon Apr 10, 2006 7:10 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

I fitted a set of clipons and now the Throttle sits a bit further down the bar, on full right lock (well approaching full lock) the throttle is very dificult to turn as the cables are being streached to the max, Has anyone rerouted the cables to avoid this, (currently come from the left hand side of frame around the headstock.) or can new slightly longer cables be fitted? is it an easy job? cheers, any info would help... The bikes fine just now, but come MOT it will fail as you need to be able to operate throttle at full lock! cheers

Go to the bicycle shop and get some cable and fittings etc. They seem to have just about everything you need. Cyclists are obviously not put off by having to make their own cables. You'll need some solderless nipples as well.

Then you can make your own cables and have them as long as you like.

Failing that, take the cables to the bike shop and have a hunt through the other Honda cables. I bet that there's something useable.

If that still doesn't work then leave the bike at home and catch the bus.

Ta ill give it a go!

What about routing them on the inside of the frame and exiting somewhere above the rad on the left side (as you sit on the bike) not looking to skimp on cables but if i can get a solution without buying new ones (the ones i have have only just been replaced, Pre mod's) that would be great!..... Other wise ill take a trip down to honda and see whats what!!

If you can't re-route them Alister then these guys can do whatever you want. They could either modify your existing ones or make up some new ones...

Or fit a master/slave servo system in the throttle and use an electrical drive on the carb? Fly by wire NSR! Laughing

Just An Update for anyone intrested, I went to honda, and apart from being very unhelpfull, (normally good, but the new guy couldnt be fecking arsed) they didnt have anything longer apparently Sad . So with Max's advice I sent the cables registered post to Venhill on Tuesday, they have made me nice new cables to the right length and they fit just fine, works a treat, top service, and recomend it to anyone, To top it off new nsr cables from honda where £20 each. and the talored Venhill Cables came to £41 inc vat and delivery. HAPPY BOY HERE Very Happy
