NSR250R Wet Clutch Strength?

Sat Sep 30, 2017 11:55 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hi...is the MC21 and MC28 wet clutch strong? and would it handle a Tyga exhaust & muffler upgrade?

I've been told wet clutches can take more abuse and frequent stop/starting in traffic better...though a dry clutch doesn't rob the engine of as much horsepower?

I was working at buying an MC21 or MC28 a few years ago...though it never eventuated.

I'm going to start working at it again soon...and am just trying to decide what clutch type to go for.

My suburb is a fairly built up residential area that has heavy traffic frequently.

I will be using RVF400 USD forks and Tyga rear shock at this stage...so aren't bothered by getting an R model that has inferior suspension to the SE and SP models.

Just wondering how strong and durable the wet clutches are.

Thanks! Very Happy

In my experience it's all down to personal preference. In reality there's very little to choose from between them apart from the noise and ease of maintenance of the dry clutch.

You won't notice any performance difference between them, and won't have any issues running unrestricted HP as long as the plates and springs are in good condition.
