Hi all,

That bike looks really good! I think there are only two pipes because it looks like the top pipes are not fitted on the bike yet. If you look at the picture of the engine from above, you can see the rear barrels exhaust outlets have no pipes on, you can see bits of tissue stincking out...

btw is this bike coming to the trackday? It would be great to see it going!

Mat.

If you look at the first image, you can see the top right expansion chamber below the rear of the tank. The last picture shows where the rear shock mount has been cut away to make way for the chambers.

A plate has also been welded across the front of the shock mount for extra strength after removing the top sections.

The front end is a straightforward swap. A new stem needs to be machined, or the NSR stem pressed into the RGV lower triple. I'm not saying the NSR stem is a stright fit, you may need to make a collar and press the stem into the collar, then press that assembly into the RGV's lower clamp.

Looking at the pictures, I'd say it looks like an American garage!

I didn't think it was possible to fit an RG engine into an NSR frame because the shock mount got in the way...or was that an NS400 engine into the NSR frame. All this 2 smoke has rotted my brain.

Check out this stuff....more 80's two stoke engine meets 90's frame action

Well, as you can see by the third image, there's a sizeable chunk been taken out of each side of the shock mount!

I'd have thought that the MC18 would be a more likely candidate for the transplant with its' lower shock mount, but now I've seen it (although not with my own eyes!) done, who knows!!

It's not mine chaps...

It came from the RG500 mailing list, it's only a 100bhp tune which is relatively easy and basic for the RG engine so it's no 'real' monster.

Drop in on Mark Dent at John Dent engineering - near Twickenham, London if you want to see a really mad, son-of-a-bitch RGV500 jobbie. Mark had a 150rwhp RG500 at Daytona a while back but unfortunately he set up the ignition on one cylinder with too much 'gusto' and it went pop on startup.

Enjoy.....
