NSR parts sourcing

Wed Jun 30, 2010 7:06 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

hey guys, i'm sorry if this thread is a repeat that comes around often.

i'm looking for a conrod kit for a mc21 1990 jap import.
been looking around heaps but cant seem to find anything.
i live in australia so if there's a great place to go or call i'd love to know.

ALSO i've heard a thing or two about big bore kits making the crank shaft make a few odd noises. i'm pretty much looking at bolting a big bore kit on because the plating in the cylinder has been chipped, part of the ring has entered the head and made huge imprints on the head.

just wanting a few pro's and cons of each side so i can get a better idea.

Cheers Tim

Hi Mate
The best person in aus to talk to would be ****** at rgv spares ( http://www.****.com/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.browse&category_id=43&Itemid=26&vmcchk=1&Itemid=26 )
If your going to use the 300 kit you are best to put a new crank in can get them from tyga not that expensive .

I see you made it from the CBR250 forum to here.

Have a read through this thread. http://www.nsr250.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=8204&highlight=tyga+300

Also you can just get your cylinder fixed and re plated, doesn't cost as much as you may think and certainly a cheaper fix that getting a complete new top end.

I've lost the link I got(from bandit I think) to a place at Narangaba in Qld that re plates barrels.

From memory the price was between $250-$350.

Eitherway $350 for re plating and $550 for a top end kit certainly beats the later.

It's entirely your call with what you want to do, I'm just offering a suggestion and if it were me, I'd get them re plated.

yeah thats not too bad but the guy before me, snapped the bolt that controls the power valves so i still have to buy new or second hand cylinders with power valves, then expect to fork out 350 per barrel for a re plate and another 550 for a top end rebuild kit...

opposed to a $1220 us complete 300 kit..

but Glenn your right i would love to get them re-plated but in my circumstance i dont want to fork out that much.

That's still cheap, when you consider original barrels were around $985 each when you could get them

oh thanks heaps for that. much appreciated.
na there's a genuine honda top end rebuild kit supplied from ****** on fleabay for 550 or something like that.

so i'm assuming from the links above that the mc28 cylinders bolt straight onto the mc21?

might just get some second hand barrels then,
where's the cheapest place to get a bottom end kit??
