not really nsr, but its honda
nc30 rolling chassis with zxr400h forks and yolks
ns400 engine, sending crank for rebuild, barrels being sent to terry shepherd to be bored to 490cc
engine lugs to be welded into frame in the next couple of weeks
Why that combination of parts? Something that's know to work, or because you had them lying about? _________________ MC21SP Plaything

The 400 engine (which is clearly the way to go if you want a big Honda stroker) won't go in an NSR frame for love or money, rear shock is smack in the way of the rear pipe.
There have been a couple of attempts at this build, Clarkie is/was doing one, pic here. _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread
Great project. Before you start, a thought for you... the ns400 engine fits into an RGV or RS Aprilia frame like it was made for it. Also, think about fitting some 1983 CR125 cylinders to the NS400 engine. I did it a few years back, as the the limiting factor on good power was the reed block size... the CR is 33% bigger than tiny ns400 cylinders. A full 500 was good for 95bhp.
Dave "elegy" Reynolds has an NS500 motor in an RS frame, and like you say, it fits like a glove. It is however, an Aprilia chassis, and there's got to be something in having an NS motor in a Honda chassis!
My ultimate project includes an NS motor in a different (make) chassis too, but there's method in my madness! _________________ Andy.

i spoke to dave (alergy) via email about this project he gave me lots of good info
i know its fits into a rgv frame easier but its a suzuki, is does fit into the nc30 frame but its alittle more work, its been done before ,richard shepherd is doing one at the moment for some body

Good luck
Dan
thats interesting about the cr125 cylinders,
i was also told the ns400 ignition system was the limiting factor too, spoke to a guy who races one ,and he is using the rgv250 loom and electrics, with 500 barrels and shepherd pipes he dyno,d his at 85hp with a very good torque curve, pulls strong from 4000 rpm

it does work , and its been done more than once, i bought the nc30 with crash damage ,forks and fairing need replacing ,sold the engine ,electrics ,and all the bits i wont need ,the rolling chasis then cost me nothing with money left over for zxr forks
That guy does some cracking conversions. It's just a shame that the Japanese rarely link to larger, better quality images on their webpages. _________________ Andy.
