NSR500V engine

Sat Feb 25, 2012 11:30 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Not many pictures of NSR500 or 500V engine parts on the internet so here are some from my rebuild. I'll add more as I dig bits out.

2001 spec engine with revised crankcases, uprated gear box, clutch and clutch cover as well as nitrided output shaft collar. Det rings in both head and barrel. Magnesium water pump, clutch cover and exhaust manifolds.

Tungsten crank with heavy metal inserts. Ceramic centre bearing.

Looks stunning but where the hell do you start when working out how to build it up to run on BP Ultimate Shocked

I would if I was going to use it on the road. I'll be running it on Elf MITS42.

Yeah I know! It's going to cost about £400 a day in fuel to do trackdays. Still cheaper than cranks and cylinders though. You can buy it in 25L drums though as well as 50L.

That's not the workshop, that's under the house. That's the kitchen!

Only if you do the whole day and if you can be as heavy on the throttle as a pro GP rider!

I'm going on the same amount of fuel as used in a NSR250. The F3 would use 60L+ a day with ease and not do all the sessions.

Even if it only used as much fuel as a NSR250 that would still be over £200 a day!

I'm going on it (with a 26 litre fuel tank) being able to do a 30 lap GP at Donington in the hands of someone very quick.

Bloody hell! I'm presuming you will be running them on some sort of super special racing fuel?
