VHM. There heads come O ringed and you can sort out the squish width/height issues.

No budget for VHM heads , this will be cheaper and something within reach of a few 300 owners out there . Looks like I will have to be the first to try it then .

Re-machining the stock heads for o-ring grooves is possible, but you will also need to re shape the combustion chamber to suit otherwise the increase in comp and reduction in squish clearance will cause problems.

Also, you'll want to look at a VHM head to see the routing of the o-ring. That'll give you a good idea of how to do it.

Hey Matt, is there anything lost or gained in terms of cooling when using the VHMs instead of the standard heads and head gaskets with those little, different sized holes cut into them?

The VHM heads are designed allow or restrict flow around the outside of the insert without letting the water escape out through the outlet without doing it's job. If you just throw a std head on without a gasket the water will not adequately cool the front side of the combustion chamber.

I had a chat with Neels and he has said the same thing that the water will shortcut through the easiest route and hotspots will occur where the flow is too slow . VHM are the only way , there goes the budget
