NC30 fork tubes in my MC21

Sun Oct 02, 2011 7:12 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hi !!!

I have one of my fork tubes a bit curved and damaged. A good friend, has a brand new set of NC30 tubes. My plan was to swap my damaged tubes ( both ), for the new ones, using all the internals and parts of my fork ( MC21 SP fork ).

Both tubes ( MC21 & NC30 ) seems pretty similar, same diameter, same shapes all the way, the only difference is the total length, the MC21 ones are 16mm longer.. Due to that difference, the small hole at the bottom of the tube, it's also 16mm higher.

¿ Can i swap them without problems ?

I have search and read in the forum, but seems to be different NC30 forks, and i'm in doubt.

I attach two images, so you can see the difference.

I fitted some to my '18 lowers. I welded the hole up and re-drilled in the correct position.

Works ok!

That's just what i want to do. But one question, the overall height of the fork, will be 16mm shorter, and the spring preload will be higher ¿ isn't it ?
