All I know is while I was riding home it sounded like the exhaust blew. I managed to get home by bump starting it(backfired)and took exhausts off. The engine is not siezed. The pistons still turn over but it seems one of the pistons is not sealing properly??

Do you think this is major probs?

Hmmmm, yep, I thought around £250 at first when mine seized and now the repair bill will be around £1500 all in, the parts are over £900, but that does include 2 pistons, 2 replates, 1 repair, 1 head, HRC jet kit, a clutch, a gear selector shaft, chain and sprocket and all the bits and bobs to rebuild it. Till you get in there and look you just don't know whats lurking. It soon adds up.
If it was an '18 or '21 you could argue it's a write off. See it all here Should be nice when it's done though.

Doing the piston itself is no big job, it's if (like mine) the chrome has been ripped off so the crank really needs to come out, and if something actually caused it to die getting that right too so it doesn't do it again too soon.

I still can't quite believe its going to cost near to £1500 Shocked , hell you can rebuild an RC30 for less. Still im sure it will be worth it. Lets hope it doesnt go pop first time out on your track day.

Mate, £900 on parts (there is a link to the invoice from the link) is a bad start, what do GT charge an hour labour? Bet it wouldn't take long there to rack the bill up to £1500 either.

I just want it done right, not to bothered about when it's done or how much it costs, it's only money, I've got to spend it on something and you can guarantee I'll spend it on rubbish anyway.

And not convinced you can rebuild any RC for £1500, whats the '45 owe you? 25-30k? More?
