MC21 Rothmans Restoration

Mon Nov 24, 2014 6:54 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hey guys.

I thought its about time I upload some pics of my restoration that took me a year to complete. (Mostly complete)
My name is Scott and I live in NSW Australia. About an hour north of Sydney.

I originally bought the bike as a rolling frame from Rob (Nxrsr20). Thanks Rob.
The bike wasn't in to bad condition, it just needed a good clean.
I decided I was going to strip the whole thing and build it up from scratch. All new bearings, seals and a fresh motor.
The plan was to keep it all original with genuine OEM fairings but with new paint and stickers.
And it was all completed by myself.
(I have a hard time trusting other people to complete work on my toys. Learned the hard way with my Nissan 180sx)
As it sits now the bike is mostly finished. It currently has a wet clutch (will have the dry clutch in soon) and I incorrectly placed two stickers that I have had to sand back and remove. These are just waiting to be installed.
Enough with the talking here are some pics of the build
Thanks Scott

More pics showing powder coated wheel.
Fuel tank which was the hardest job because it had been repaired in a previous life and stripping the paint was a nightmare

Pics showing engine and now the paint of the tank and fairings.
All the parts were painted in 2k paint. Came up pretty decent for a first timer.

I bought maybe the last genuine full lock set from Honda. Wasn't cheap either.

Looks great, especially with a home paint job.
