MC28 no cut wire splice

Fri Jun 14, 2013 3:50 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

I thought I would make my first posting a contribution to those MC28 owners who haven't gotten around to doing the wire splice. Or for those who would like to see a method that doesn't require cutting the harness. Attached are the pics of my jumpers with annotations. Eventually I'd like to get my hands on some actual connectors so I can do a cleaner job. I have wrapped it up neatly with black electricians tape for now.

I'm probably a little late to this show, but what the heck. I recently picked up a very original MC28 Rothman's. My plan is to do the basic derestrictions and play around with it for a few months. Then it will go on display in my living room.

I've secured a PGM4 with HRC 030 card, Tyga exhaust, Tyga airbox and some jets which I am in process of installing. I thought I would share with you all my approach to the wire splice.

Much thanks to Matt at Tyga for his help and answering my questions. Same to Charles for his timely shipment of a shop manual and also answering my questions. And thank you to the rest of you who have made so many posts to help guys like me come up to speed on these great bikes. Finally, thank you to Andy for you dedicated support to this forum. You will probably diss me for not buying an mc21, if I was going racing I might have, but as I mentioned above, it's really just gonna be part of the home decor.

Regards Eric

Great splicing. Must have been a bit of a head scratch to work all that out.

M-Max did to a plug in version for the MC28, but only ever seen one for sale in the last 40 years.

Might have a go at this for my Repsol MC28.

Please post a photo of it on show in the living room in due course Smile

Hmm, the pictures are gone which show all the details.

Did anyone save the pictures and would it be possible to up load/link them again?

Thanks!

You have to be logged in to see the pictures.
You knew that, but just forgot about it, temporarily.

Thank you for reminding me. Wink
Sometimes I have to log in twice, probably that's what confused me yesterday.

MC28 wire splice

Thu Jun 05, 2014 11:47 am » Post: #9 » Download Post

Hi Guys

Does the MC28 wire splice make a difference on a standard 94' SE with just a set of TYGA pipes & cans?

No. You need an HRC card to change the ignition curve and RC Valve timing.
