gear box oil for mc28 sp

Sat Feb 23, 2013 10:16 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hello guys
What is the gear box oil of choice for the NSR 250 sp gearbox?
Years ago I bought a bottle of MOTUL gear oil, but never used it, it's unopened... Can't remember the code off top of my head. I'll have to look tomorrow.
Does oil decompose over years if sealed? Has g
ear box oil advanced over the years? We're talking since 1996 and whether I should junk this oil and buy a new bottle, or keep it.

what do u guys use and recommend?
Thanks
Graham

Ok Les, thanks for that. I think my local dealer stocks silkolene.
Any other opinions?

We've always recommended Rock Oil lubricants, right across the board. Even the NSR500V's run on Rock Oil.

Thanks for that Andy.. do u keep the oil in stock? As I plan to book my NSR into your workshop for derestricting and setting up. Hope to arrange this for the spring. If so how much notice would you need, and how long would you need the bike for? Could it be arranged to be done over say couple of days to save on long distance trips, or longer?
Thanks
Graham
