Hi mate, that is absolutely beautiful! Could you please send me a link to the decal set you used, as I am trying to find a good one, and yours looks perfect! Loving the pipes and wheels, my Magteks are currently getting painted white, so my bike will look very similar to yours (when finished), but with white wheels.

I cant get over how great your bike looks, well done!

Make sure your Magteks are properly "sealed" before being painted. Even though the level of magnesium in NSR Magteks is quite low, the Mg will still oxidise and bubble up through "normal" primer/paint (and powder coating) over time.

I just got my rs wheels back, the rear was painted just before I got it and bubbled in no time, probably a lot quicker than Nsr magteks, but like Andy said - they need sealing first. I had mine crack tested and chromated.

Looking good Jon, loving that front end!!

An explanation of "properly sealed" would be useful advice.......

Another nice 21 John, looks spot on.

Magnesium alloy has poor corosion resistance, chromate coatings are used on Magnesium to give a corrosion resistant coating. If you are going to repaint your Magteks I would say get them paint stripped by someone who knows what they are doing, I used to use a nylon media blaster which removes the paint but does not remove the chromating like this:

Normal sandblasting will remove this coating in a blink of the eye. I also had my wheels painted with epoxy primer and topcoat, 6 years on and they still look mint with no corrosion.

Hi... beautiful bike. I'm hoping you can help me. I'm searching for a fuel tank for my friend's 1995 Honda NSR 250 Rothmans Replica (VIN MC281005985). Do you have a spare fuel tank or know of someone who does? I"m willing to pay.
