Or, even better, go to your profile and select NSR-WORLD from the forum styles box.

It works! Smile

How do you send a PM from a topic?

I am assuming you are reading a topic, and click on the PM icon under a users information. This brings you to your PM box with a new PM to that user. When you hit the submit button, the PM is sent to that user and doesn't post a message to the topic you were in. Not really sure what you are doing, but thinking your doing something your thinking is something else.

From a topic, if you select the reply button (top/bottom of the topic) or the Quote button (on each individual post), then it will reply to the topic (that and the quick reply at the bottom of a topic replies to the topic.

ok if in a topic some1 sends a pm about something about that topic, when i try and reply to them. instead of sending a pm to them, for some reason no pm gets sent and the pm which i was trying to send gets changed into a reply to the topic of which the pms originally started from.
if it had just happened the once i would say i was me, but it must of happened 5/6/7 times now, i may be a bit stupid but not that stupid Wink. hope that makes more sense.

The original style is much less cluttered and productive. Say the word and I will switch you back. I know you're under a fair degree of stress at the moment, so if it will make things easier for you, just let me know.

The original style is much clearer, full stop. Sorry Charles, but I just don't see all this alleged "increased functionality" ever being used.

I have no idea what you're talking about.

If you receive a PM it's just a PM, it's not attached to a topic at all. Just because you (or they) clicked the PM icon in a reply doesn't make any difference.

Chucky,

Been looking into this, can't seem to find anything that can allow a PM reply to post it to a specific topic? Once your in a PM window (and especially when your in a reply to a reply to a PM that may have been initiated via the PM icon from a topic), the topic ID is not available to be included in the reply so the forum code knows to post that as a reply to a thread.

I am going to try some additional testing to see what I can come up with, but with all my testing up till now, haven't been able to see how this can be done.

I must admit that I've been having PM problems as well. Can't always find a link to my inbox and I quite often have to log in several times. There you go...... my completely useless 2pence's worth!

The need to login several times probably has more to do with your browser and it's storing of cookies then with the forums themselves. The link for your PM Inbox is ONLY displayed when you are logged in. So I would guess no link to your PM Inbox has more to do with your browser/browser settings then the forums.

I would suggest clearing your browsers cache, check your browsers security/privacy settings, etc. and make sure you are allowing cookies for the site.

As for Chucky's issues, kind of at a loss? Can't find anything in the code that would carry a thread/post details into a PM to allow a reply to be associated with a thread/post. Tried a couple times to reproduce the issue and cant get it to happen. Keep me updated Chucky and let me know if you see it again and PM me with details on the thread/PM that are getting crossed up.
