Since I've had the clutch out to hunt for the leaky seal, I've noticed the notching on the basket. Any opinions on whether this is good enough to re-use as-is, needs a little filing, or is dead and ought to be replaced?

That'll go again... I've seen worse, but it's far from ideal. If the hub or basket have too many ridges it can cause the clutch action to judder or become snatchy. _________________ Andy.

By the way Dave, that's the hub, not the basket! Just in case you go asking someone on the phone for the wrong part! _________________ Andy.

If you plan to keep using that clutch center, you will want to keep an eye on it for further damage. Once the metal starts to get grooved, it will be easier for more damage to happen. As more damage happens, there is the possibility for the metal clutch plate teeth to get stuck in those grooves, resultsing in the clutch not working properly.
You can smooth out the grooves for a temp fix, but I would get one ordered just to have it ready to go. Would suck to be at track day with your clutch not working, just ask my girl friend about that with her Ducati 748 that had that issue.

Parts still available, but there's been a huge price increase on them. The hub is more than double what it was, and the basket is over £200 now! _________________ Andy.
