Fri Apr 01, 2005 8:29 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

i am running standard pipes with swarbrick end cans and when i ride (i tend to do the racer tip toe on pegs style Smile ) my heel touches the skinny part of the pipe.
i really like the look of the usupported can thing but am concerened they wont be strong enough, what do you guys think Question

also will the vibrations damage the cans, do any of you boys run unsupported carbon cans Question

when i say unsupported i mean the straps that go round the can Very Happy Very Happy

Dave S's cans are great - running them unsupported is ok but after a lot of miles or a good few years use, the rivets (if used on yours) can on occasion, work loose.
I've just had to shorten a set of carbon Swarbrick cans and redraw the rivets as they did just that.

Otherwise - cool.

My Tygas are fine but I have had a set of Gibson silencers that were unsupported, crack at the weld...

My full Tyga pipes and carbon cans survived two years of racing and a crash on both sides without significant damage.

Quality see? Wink

I decided to check all the alloy and carbon cans I have - it seems that bikes withvibey engines will kill cans, the YPVS350 seems to have started to destroy a few alloy cans - great Confused
