pgm iv mc28 ignition ?

Tue Mar 15, 2005 12:35 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

Ok...finally recieved the original pgm card from the previous owners insurance company. I bought this bike a few months back, on ebay, and had it shipped from San Fran. to Florida. Anyway, When I place the card into the slot on the pgm unit....(new battery too) nothing happens. Is the PGM ignition screen supposed to acknwoledge the key inserted? Isn't some indication that the key is in place supposed to be happening??? Same for the NEW HRC card from Honda...no indication that anything works...I'm headed for the help pages...Thanks for any advice. Cliff in Florida Sad

The display should at least burst into life upon inserting the card.

First thing I'd check (as you say it already has a new battery) is the battery connections, earth (ground) connections, and the fuses.

It may sound obvious, and you may have checked already, but we have to start somewhere!

Your right Andy, when the card is inserted the LCD screen should at least burst into life - although I have standard card and loom on my bike.

Has the wire splice been done? Would he need to do this before the PGM would recognise the card?
Also is the card also the correct one for the PGM (matched the numbers from the pgm when ordered). My guess is that if its the wrong card then it wont recognise it and do nothing.

Check card by removing pgm and see if the four number code underneath matches the code on the card.On my 28 the rear light comes on and the valves reset(clicking noises) when card inserted. Hope this helps

Yeah! When you insert the card you should immediately get plenty of action from the RC valves, display, lights, steering lock, noises. And that goes for both cards.

If you're sure you've got power, and the electrics are hooked up right, then double-check the number on the PGM. If that's not it then I guess you're screwed.
