After a fine weekends camping in the lovely sunny weather, about 5 miles from home cruising at a steady 80/90, passed a lorry and all of a sudden lots of mechanical noises and loss of drive. Shite thinks I so pull in, no gear selection and no drive. Bum, at least it happened close to home...
I'll be wanting a new gearbox soon then.. not sure what exactly caused it but I had just changed the oil for silkolene light gear oil and its only had 500ml left in the box when I drained it..
Wow! Never seen that before! A picture fit for DS's "interesting parts" thread in the Members area if ever there was one!
Any sign of a leak from the seal behind the front sprocket? Strange how you can never seem to drain the same amount of oil you put in! I never seem to get the correct amount of oil out of forks! _________________ Andy.

If its the same box as a 18/21 (fitment wise not ratio's), which I think it is I have loads of them! Not quite like yours though _________________ If I have to take the carbs off once more...
Yeah, we don't see many transmission threads, do we? When we do, they are usually "can I fit an MCxx dry clutch transmission to my MCxx?", and it's quickly answered with a "yes". _________________ Andy.

Oh so will a mc(whichever) dry clutch tranny fit my mc16 then?

The transmission will but the MC16 crank and primary gear is shorter than all the other models and so fitting the clutch itself can be troublesome. _________________ If I have to take the carbs off once more...
Paul, if you struggle to find a box in the UK, I'd seriously recommend you try on okshon / yahoo auctions.
I've recently bought all this for just £150.
Sometimes, you can really catch a bargain there. _________________ Rich
