MC21 reed stuffers - Tyga or HRC?

Wed Mar 02, 2005 9:15 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hi

Does anyone know what the difference is between the various types of reed stuffers? (the plastic bit that sits inside the reed cage.)

I've heard HRC and Tyga did / do diferent shapes. Anyone know what difference they make?

Also, the boost bottles on top of the reed cage, I have heard you remove them for racing as they are there only to boost bottom end for the bike around town / low speed. Anyone know if this is correct?

Thanks

Dan

But being as it's my Site, so what!

There will be HRC rectifiers for sale in the Marketplace in the next week or two.

Cheers,

Thanks for answering the questions Andy! ;)

Here is the answer about the induction bottles...

from Andy's site none the less

To finish the job, if all you want is pure top end gain, remove the induction bottle. This opaque bottle, attached to the inlet manifold in front of the carb's, is designed to make the inlet tract appear longer at low rpm, and help prevent blow-back into the carb's when the throttle is snapped shut, at the end of a long straight for example. Remove the bottle and plug the holes in the inlet stubs.

Thanks,

Not going to give it all away Charles!

I don't think there's much you can't find on the Website if you look hard enough! ;)

Proved my point with your post!

IS removing the bottles going to affect the jetting?

The jetting should be checked after ANY modification to the fuel, exhaust, or ignition.

Removing the "boost bottle" will often richen the bottom end up quite significantly.

The biggest difference between the TYGA Hi-Flow Reed Valves and the HRC rectifiers is the number of parts you get!

The TYGA rectifier design is basically the same as HRC, but by just replacing the rectifier you are only improving the mixture flow. which is of course, not a bad thing.

With the TYGA parts you get new valves complete, so you can be sure that the reed petals (OEM Honda) are fresh, and the sealing face of the valve body is tip top.

We then add the stopper lifter plates to increase intake area, which comes helps over rev.

Not trying to make a sales pitch here, just explaining the difference.

Oh yeah. Take Andy's advice about checking the jetting after any mods seriously. Can't really make this point clearly enough.

Nothing worse than throwing some special parts at your loved one, only for it to all go pear shaped in your haste to get out there and turn up the volume.

Hi Crazyhorse,

Unfortunately we are currently out of stock of NSR150SP pipes, but hang in there as we're making another batch right now.

Give me a shout in a week or so.
