Black Sheep Racing MC21

Tue Dec 02, 2008 6:55 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

Helloo all. Change of name for the topic Cool
Inspired by the NZ film Black Sheep Twisted Evil Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Twisted Evil (And Whitebait having a proper name Embarassed )
Also suits, being (most likely) the only smoker in a diesel F3 field
You know, the proverbial Black Sheep of the Flock. (Admittedly the one at the back of the flock Rolling Eyes )

Having gotten tired of blowing up my Aprilia RS250, and not getting on with its handling, I have gotten a real bike again.
I've gotten some bits for it, and will be getting more as money allows. Probably won't be on the track before mid 2010, tho Crying or Very sad Baby due soonish is why.

Here goes:
On when I got her:MC21 R, 1990
SP forks -SOLD
SP shock -SOLD
Gold Magteks -Kept for wets
R cylinders, SP heads Very Happy
Posh derestrictor box

Parts bought:
HRC NF5 electrics complete* (Actually NH3 Twisted Evil )
HRC F3 airbox
HRC RS250 carbs
HRC RS250 inlets (thanks StephenRC45)
HRC RS250 RWU forks & triples*
HRC RS125 Shock*
HRC F3 transmission and dry clutch
HRC RS250 NX5 radiator, modified
HRC Rear head conversion*
TZ250 Marchesini 5-spoke wheels 3.75 & 5.5*
Blue Fox chambers and cans*
HRC RS250 tail*
Aprilia RS250 (RSV style) fairings Shocked
Hyperpro steering damper
Tyga rearsets
Vortex clipons
Domino twistgrip

Thank you Andy C for sorting most of these bits off Yahoo Japan (*)
There are bits to get yet. I'll list them as I go...
And I'll be building a lot of bits myself. This will include all the subframes, a fuel tank, and GP type fairing mounts in aluminium, MC18 F3 type engine mount bracing. Also crash knobs and axle sliders...

I daren't start a thread with a list for my two projects, as I never know when it will get updated next!

You have a great list there to start with though! I hope you make more progress than I do!

It should be called "Project Field of Dreams"! You often find that as soon as one pops up, more appear... "Build it and they will come"! Laughing

Damn good set of forks there! You'll probably find them soft for the NSR (I had to wind everything right in on mine), and short, but the handling was transformed dramatically.

Stage 1 is (slowly) underway

Chassis is steam cleaned.

And I am putting in new chassis bearings all around, steering head bearings, swingarm pivot and shock linkage bearings, shock eye bearings and wheel bearings.
Some I can get from SKF, some Honda OEM and some from ALL BALLS Racing parts...

This business is expensive Crying or Very sad

HMMMmmmmm

My MC21's cases and crank appear to be MC18 MkI... Shocked

Well. I've got one good crank in it, and a duff one spare (one Main bearing is shot) to rebuild...
