2 Stroke, Smoker Problems

Mon Nov 17, 2008 9:40 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hey,

I know that our bikes smoke more than normal 4 strokes but at the moment my bike is smoking more than usual and when the bike is idealing it will smoke more from the right than the left exhaust. Could you please tell me some things that could cause this and what petrol should I use leaded or unleaded?

Regards

Taji

Hi my bike also smoked a lot when i was runing premix.
i dont think you could get leaded gas at the pumps anymore.
but what you are saying is one side more then the other, i had that too before my oil pump broke, might be a sign. check the oil lines from the pump to the carb, maybe one is not clean...
can be a lot of things realy, more people will be here shortly having different views. so just hang on. best of luck mate, i know its a problem.

I noticed that on tickover, one exhaust was producing much more smoke / gas that the other. When I put a vacuum gauge over each open carb, saw they were out of balance.

My mc18 used to do the same thing, it also popped differently on each pipe when left to tick over. I also had a problem where the revs wouldnt drop back down properly once the bike had been revved up.

I had the Carbs check for balance with some decent honda vacuum gauges and guess what? They were miles out. Balanced the carbs and since then its been perfect, All the problems i had have now dissapeared.
