How do you guys mix your premix ,

a)do you just tip XXmls of oil into the tank and fill it up at the service station and shake the bike a bit

or

b)Mix in a jerry can then fill the bike.

im thinking of taking off the pump etc...., what do you do on long rides

I pump the gas first then add the appropriate amount of oil. Then grab the front brake and rock the bike forward and back like a freak. When everyone in the gas station is looking at you funny then you know it is mixed good. Laughing

Depends on how far you want to go;
When i raced a TZ250 i used to mix the correct fuel /oil mixture in a bucket with a whisk to ensure it was all mixed correctly.
I Never left any fuel in the tank after a meeting as it is possible for the oil to seperate and stick to the fuel tank!! Used fresh fuel each meeting.

Probably way over the top but never had any engine reliability problems!

Is that because of dodgy fork seals Tom?! Laughing

t3racing's comment about not leaving fuel in the tank is not really applicable to the NSR, and I am sure he would've been using something like A747 or HTX (and probably AVGAS too) with the TZ which is indeed susceptible to separation over time, but synthetic based 2-stroke (modern consumer) oils have a special formula to help prevent it.

Just remember that if you go premix on the road, that it's much simpler to fill up in multiples of 1ltr. I love having the pump and just sticking in £10 or whatever I want each time. It doesn't matter if that tenner is 8.40 litres of Super or 8.93 litres of 95RON, as the pump's mixing it! When you have to measure the correct ratio of oil, you don't have that casual luxuary, and 1/2 a litre is quite a difference!

I mix my A747 and AVgas in a jug....add oil than AVgas...from different containers then into on my race jug

But I soon will re-jet to burn pump fuel for a break on my wallet
