nsr 250 big bore kit

what is the most big bore kit for the nsr engine.i think i hane see a kit from malossi and the engine go to 360cc with power valve and a kit from athena and the engine go to 380 with out power valve does anyone have any information abaout it

there is one Big bore kit 300cc for the NSR that is made from TYGA... Check this link...

i now the tyga kit but is very expensive.malossi 360cc is only 900euro price for 2 cylinder pistons head etc.and athena only 700euro for 2 cylinder pistons heads etc.the only thing i dont now is how strong is these kits.

If these larger kits exist, the extra expense of needing a new crankshaft to cope with extra torque would make the cost higher than the 300 kit.
This depends of course on how tired the original is but I am building a 300 and I am using a new crankshaft. The old one will be perfectly ok in one of my standard engines but I wouldn't risk it in a 'very radical' 300cc.
If you look through the forum, you can read how some guys do not like the 300 due to the loss of 'kick in pants'. This can be overcome in the 300 by using lighter pistons; but would be very difficult if you went any larger.
70 something horsepower is enough or you might as well buy a 4 stroke.

Morning David,

Yes I also like to go the 300 way but if there are bigger then well I mean...

Maybe worth a look at, also I would like to hear what you did with your machine if you get 80+ out of it, I would like to see 85-90 becasue we can get 75 out of a 250.

Hi,
I was giving a stock answer while actively searching on another page for the bigger kit. I was talking more of an expense point of view. It does sound very Yamaha cc but definitely worth a look.
My 300 is Luke's old Rolfo from this site. I am hoping for huge gains but its not together yet.
The engine is:

crankcases flowed etc,
cylinders ported as far as possible.
VHM heads
Wiseco pistons
NX5 and programmable total loss ignition.
PWK 39's
Ram air
Transmission changes etc.
Race fuel
Other things that I can't remember


I only mention HP to get a bite from somebody. He never notices; I have quoted 90+ before. I have no idea where it will end up but hopefully should be pretty good. I am taking it to a stage beyond Tyga's 300.

20 years ago I fitted a Malossi 170 bore kit to my ns125 so you never know, there could be something to the story. We all live in hope.

The 20 minutes riding it before it blew was great fun. I wondered what the brass thing was in the box; now I realise it was a needle and jet. I was very young.

75 from a 250 is very impressive.

300 cc kit
Wiseco GP pistons
VHM heads (Unleaded)
Ported
Choped barrels
Totall loss
MC28 Carbs (maybe bored)
HRC wire harness
HRC 030 card
Harc-pro ram air (Copy)

Also cant remember everything !LOL

I dont have a race bike anymore to put on a dyno but I know some one who raced against me last year and his bike made 75.5 2weeks back on unleaded. Ill get some graphs and post them after next week when they race again.

Sounds very similar except you only have half a swingarm. Wink

Go leaded and you should be able to squeeze a little more.
I would think bigger carbs. I was lucky in finding the carb insulators.
Did you carry out all the engine work yourself?

I am not speaking from experience; info from this site.

The dyno will be really interesting, should give me an idea where I will get to. If I ever get home to finish it.

Back on topic, I have looked at every big bore site on the net I think and no more kits for nsr's except the ones we all know about. I have spent considerable time looking for bore kits for my pink 50cc joker and my 50cc 3 wheeler gyro - 2 strokes. Very Happy They were the wifes; she came with nothing and she left with nothing.
The quest for more power continues then.

Thanks you very much Loukas ! I had a look and it looks good but you must remember that you will need two of those kits for the NSR so you are looking at 900EUR/$1300 where the tyga kit is $1400 for the normal head kit.

Then there's three other problems, possible four.

1. Looks like the water hoses will connect differently.
2. You will need to make some flanges for your pipes.
3. Will NSR125 barrels fit on the 250's case ? Im not too sure about this.
4. I dont think the power valves will have the right brackets and cables ?

Sure if you really want you can make it work...but at only $100 differance between a bolt on kit...well its up to you ! Very Happy

my frind tyga kit is not bolt on kit you must work with the botom of the cylinders.now abaout malossi kit.1)you have whrite abaout water hoses but it is small problem.2)and for tyga You will need to make some flanges for your pipes.3)nsr 125 is the same like nsr 150 cylinder at the end of the bottom4)you have whrite abaout power valves.but i think i can use the brackets of the original cylinders with a litle work in the holes.and dont forget this kit is bigger than tyga.
