NSR MC28SP - UK prices

Tue Mar 18, 2008 4:37 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

I spoke to a salesman at Fastline today. He told they had 3 x MC28 SP's (HRC colours, does that makes them 1995 models?) just in from Japan. Standard spec, stock ignition cards, mileage ranging from 4000 - 7000 miles.

All sold, apparently one went for £6400, another for £5800. Some prices!!! Makes mine a snip at £5K Shocked

Damn, that's getting crazier then the US prices before we started our non-recession?

Give it a little longer and it's going to be economical for UK riders to start importing bikes from the US Smile

I think what you'll find is they're going into collections to never be seen, much less used and that's a crying shame really.

I can't see a normal average 18/21/28 that never wants to and is never going to be anything more than a road/track toy going for a huge amount more than any other comparable performance 250/400 grey bike.

And in a way, if you're going to use it, that's good, you may or may not think an NSR is a better bike than an (Aprilia) RS250, RVF400 or whatever, but the performance on offer is so similar it's just down to what you fancy and long may it remain that way. The day that a bike prices itself out of the reach of those who would use it in favor of those who would put it on display is a bad day indeed.

After I secured my bike the other month, the dealer received an enquiry, didn't want it registering, to go into a collection. So these collectors are about with NSR's on their radar! Even the dealer said to me, 'your not going to ride it are you' WTF??!!

But watch out for any new MC28SP owners joining the forum, asking about derestriction. Fastline said today that even though these MC28's are 40 BHP, unrestricted ignition cards are still availble for £80.00 Shocked

Well, unless they know someone inside Honda Japan who can get them that's a flat lie, the 030 card is listed as deleted and zero stock. i.e. you cannot order one via normal means.

I'll also wager money they didn't mention getting this card to work will involve taking a soldering iron to your £6.5k bikes loom, a hole saw to the air box, doing something to get round the restriction in the pipes, then require setting up after which you'll have no speedo or oil and neutral warning lights.

They look just like big welded-in washers in the pipes! Very Happy

You'll know exactly what you're looking at as soon as you take the chambers off!

Do you know if they are in the showroom Rich, or are they 'on their way' was hoping to have a look at one, but a bit late if they're all sold. Sad

Paul, I didn't ask if they are still in the showroom. They did say they have some MC21's arriving in a week or so.

Seems strange that you can't sell your mint MC28SP Repsol (you had it up for around £5250?), when Fastline appear to be selling similar bikes at higher prices as fast as they can bring them in Confused

Have you considered asking Fastline if they can hook you up with potential buyers (don't see why they wouldn't if you offered them a 'finders fee' upon sale). Or even sell yours to them if they can get ~ £6K or more !!!!
