Clutch replacement questions...

Mon Nov 19, 2007 3:02 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

I'm about to complete a wet clutch replacement on my '93 R-model and need some info before I go on:

- Can anyone show me a pic/diagram of the actual orientation of the "judder" plates? One of mine stuck to the plates when I removed them so not exactly sure how it should go back in. Sorry, I couldn't really tell from the workshop pic...

- Speedwerks gave me a new pack of EBC ck 1181 plates to use when I bought the bike but not sure if this is a recommended set to use so any thoughts?

- Just so I know that it's not something in my tranny that froze, what should be spinning when I rotate the rear wheel? I removed the cover, pressure plate, and all clutch plates only. Should the empty hub be spinning regardless of the tranny being in neutral?

Thanks!

Jae

It will.... Just like when you have a bike on a stand with the engine running out of gear. The wheel will spin real slow...

Makes sense. I'm having issues starting the bike after sitting for a month and noticed the tranny engaged regardless of the clutch lever being pulled so I opened it up and figure I can swap in new plates just in case. I'm putting together my list of stuff through Tyga now and hope to send my order soon.
