Airbox Mod Kit

Tue Jul 10, 2007 6:01 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

I was wondering if anyone is familiar with this kit or has actual experience using it. Please go to this page and scroll way down near the bottom. You'll see pics titled Airbox kit-1,2 and 3.

Any info is greatly appreciated. My airbox also has the back end cut out of it. It might be the mod that is commonly done, but I've done searches and can't find a good description with pics here on the site. I'm sure that it is here, but it hasn't been easy for me to locate.

Many Thanks,

Joel

Those are commonly sold in the MX community. I can't see how an RS would benifit though since it has an open air box. These are basically used in a portion of the airbox that has filtered air. They allow extra air in addition to what goes by the regular filter.

Luke got me some of these and we used them in the Supermoto's. They're a good idea.

Would probably work with the stock airbox, but to be honest I'm happy just to cut the top out for free instead of paying for stuff!

Thanks for the info. Any pics on how you cut the top off?

Thanks,

Joel

Is this the correct way to modify an air box lid ?

http://tyga-performance.com/site/product_info.php?cPath=72_79_116_117&products_id=42&osCsid=4c812f7484ab45cc4f94904c108d220b

I have heard other people mention drilling extra holes to allow more airflow. Which is better This is the only pic i have found of a modded lid.

Oh, and started the bike without the lid for the first time today. No tank either. Fark me its loud !!!! I like it. Dont think other road users will, but, its not about them.

Does the TYGA version modded air box add much more noise ?

On a more serious note, it probably is a wee bit louder but a kind of informed loud. So aficionados will know but the Bill, sorry Blue Healers, will not.
