Its' like the AIR is crappy at Ground level.

Where can i get one of those HRC delimiter boxes from. I am in Australia also and have looked everywhere but no-one knows what i am talking about.

I was under the impression those boxes were just a wire splice in a plug in application ?

The wire splice is explained in detail on this site. Unless those boxes are a piggy back to the computer, i can't see anyway that they can improve performance besides the above mentioned wire splice.

Rumour when I was parted from my cash was that the HRC one offered some advance in timing, but we don't think that's true any more.

I'm not too fussed, as I didn't want to cut the loom anyway.

Surely that depends on what you think it does?

As it would appear the HRC and Mmax ones do both wire splices they do effectively advance the timing over what it would be without the box in place so whoever told Dave it "advanced the timing" didn't lie, they were just a little economical with the facts.

The point is it says HRC on, there is always going to be someone who will pay over the odds for it, the NS30 ones that do nothing at all except remove the top end speed restriction (a task which can be accomplished with a 15p resistor) go for £150+ on fleabay.

These last couple of days Ive done some interesting work on the dyno with a stock '21 using just the GPS splice and the GPS splice coupled with the delimiter splice with some interesting results.

Just dicussing them with Matt but might have some interesting finds.

Hey Matt, did you ever get "your electronics man that can" to build a reliable/accurate trigger so the spice can be "adjusted" at the top of the RPM range?

Simple answer to that one Andy. No!

What you need is a frequency switch (just like a shifter light). There's a chip that'll do this. LM2917. I spent ages reading through the spec sheets for this chip and it's quite easy to work with. Basically pick up the ignition pulse, which is then converted to a voltage. Run this voltage through a comparator which has a on/off limit of whatever voltage coresponds to your desired rpm. this will turn on a transistor, that switches a relay (for safety) and changes your wire splice as we discussed.

Done it yet?

The above method will work 'cos that's how I built my shift light. Just need to spend many hours reading up about electronics. If you (unlike me) studied electronics then this should be a breeze.

This method also works to control the RC valve, but there's a lot more electronics involved. I've had one working on the breadboard that would start moving the RC valve at whatever rpm I set, to fully open at whatever rpm I set, but it wasn't at all reliable

If I'd have known then what I know now I wouldn't have dropped electronics in favour of mechanical engineering at college. I'd have done both
