I need some help as I've found another NSR for sale close by, but......
The person imported it as a race bike... There are rules set out when you do this.... 1 the bike needs to be exported within one year(can file extension for five years). 2 It must be returned to customs to be destroyed or proved to be destroyed within one year(same extensions).
Has anyone here ever imported one and dealt with this?
How have you guys that have, gotten them titled?
Or how do you get around this "RACE" label put on it by customs?
The owner said that there are huge fines(for him)if he lets me buy it and I try and title it someday. So he's making me basicly write and sign a paper stating that I will not do so.....
I would love to have another NSR for the track, no way mines gonna see it. Well, worse case I would use the body work and get to the track on mine.
Any help/info would be GREAT !!!! I have been all over the net trying to find the info I'm looking for but coming up short....

Race vehicles do no have to be shipped back after a year. Vehicle brought in for shows or tours have to be sent back after a year. You can find information on the customs web site. _________________ james

Curious as well ..Just picked up a MC28 with no paperwork.. NH is pretty easy compared to other states, (no title necessary after 10 years old. Im just not sure what they will say about the VIN
J911Brick - I believe that only applies to true race vehicles built buy the manufacture that way, ie. no horn, turn signals, brake lights, mirrors.....
An NSR was a road going bike and doesn't fall into that catagory.
Show/Display bikes CAN stay forever... But they are not titled that way unless less than 500 were ever produced....
cgallant - Thanks for the link, I've been all over that site but think I never came across that page... Same old stuff really.
p0lariso - My current NSR's title got held up for a few months here in PA... The 11 digit VIN was the culprit. They made me take it to a certin type of state inspection mechanic to verify that the VIN was infact what was stated on the application.... 3 weeks later I recieved the title... In PA.... You gotta be kiding me
The hell with it guys... If it's a perminent race machine, at least I have it Besides, if the authorities start looking for it... They won't know that I have it.... Picking it up Thursday.... Can't wait. _________________ MC21

The bike came with a Cali title... but didn't go through PA's system. A notary gave me a form to take to an official state inspection garage certified for deeming a car An R-title after a salvaged.... They hold the respect of the state to verify VIN numbers as well... The mechanic filled out the form and it went through.
I don't think it would have gone down if it hadn't been titled before, not in PA at least(very strict laws). I don't know how it will be where you live, but good luck. NSR's are a blast to ride on the streets.... And it gets a lot of attention by anybody who knows bikes... _________________ MC21
