MC18 or MC18 CDI

Thu Jun 14, 2007 7:18 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Just bought a new CDI with the hope of sorting out my front cylinder misfire

Part arived yesterday and it doesn't match any of the numbers in the Parts Manual

Can any one help? The part number is 30400-KV3-702

I'm going to investigate the wiring to the ignition pickups when I get "clearance" to the garage

My MC18 is a 2J

If the offending item is an MC16 or not suitable, it's for sale. I paid £120

P.S. it's not plugs, coils, carbs, top-end. They've all been done

I tried the new CDI. No difference. If anyone needs one....

I've removed all the connectors and cleaned with computer solvent cleaner

I check the igniton pickups. The lower pickup cabling has a split in the cover and the wire is showing. I've put some insulation tape over it for the moment but might see if I can source a complete set off pickups and cabling

The pickups are magnetised and collecting fragments of cable. I removed all the bits.

Still not firing cleanly. Tried with and without restriction cable. Currently disconnected
