How to Know?

Sun May 13, 2007 10:43 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

hi guys,

just want to ask about the symptoms to know if the crank bearings is for replacement? My crank has 14000+ on it but I hear a little rattle coming from the engine when I release the accelerator from 5 rpm+ but when I accelerate no rattle. Can anyone give me an idea on how to know it its the bearings?

Best/easiest way is to removed the gen cover and get hold of your fly wheel. Pull it up and down, then front to back, rotate the crank alittle and repeat.

If you feel any play at all its time for a rebuild.

You'll have to whip the crank out, press it apart, and take the bearings to your local supplier.

I tried to get the bearings through a dealer that has had an account with Koyo Japan (OEM manufacturer) for nearly 30 years, and he couldn't even get them. He can't even get close to the sizes/types either.

Yeah, best of luck.

I expect we'll be seeing a flood of them in the Classifieds soon then?

So the point of the post was what?

SKF dont list a bearing anything like the NSR bearing, its either 1mm too wide, doesnt have the pin in the right place, doesnt have the right rpm ceeling, comes without a snap ring or a combination of all 4 and so is usless

Koyo make the bearings for Honda but wont sell it. There is a limited number avaliable from Aus, for what seems good money which are perfect. Why struggle to find them when there is this limited supply up for grabs.
