Boyesen Dual Stage Power reeds

Thu May 10, 2007 4:21 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Good Day All! I was wondering if anyone has tried the Boyesen Dual stage power reeds on their MC21/28? If so, did you also rejet carbs and lean out a bit (because of the higher air/fuel velocity) ? I am wanting to try out so any feedback would be appreciated!

Thanks

are those the standard?

Thu May 10, 2007 8:24 pm » Post: #3 » Download Post

Hello hung! It appears to be the standard reeds and not the dual stage which you don't have to use the reed stoppers, correct? anyhow let me know how those workout as I am in need of new reeds.

Thanks !

Right on the button, MC11 is the NS250R, as listed in the model history....

Makes the same power as standard as the MC16.......

I was hoping some decent reeds would give me a bit more power as an easy bolt-on

All the best

In my experience, reeds never give a noticeable hp increase. You usually just "tweak" the power delivery characteristics by using different materials.

Stock vs. Dual Stage (Boyesen)

Fri May 11, 2007 3:32 pm » Post: #8 » Download Post

Hi Andy, hp is not what I am trying to achieve but better throttle response with the dual stage reeds as opposed to the standard w/reed stop setup. Have you tried the boyesens?

Thanks

Tyga have some graphs on their site of their reeds back to back with stock ones which show increases though most of the range.

I dont have any graphs of Boyesen reeds on an NSR though.

Thanks Stephen, I am going to try the boyesen dual stage, for starters I can get them in 2-3 days(shipped from Ca.) Tyga stuff has always taken 4-6 weeks for my shipments. (good stuff for the MC's though)
I will post up with my results.

Thanks!

Here is the shortcut to boyesen, dual stage reeds which do not use the reed stopper plates (there are actually 2 pieces of fibre on each side of reed valve and 1 plate to mount on bottom side off reed setup.

http://www.boyesen.com/cwo.php?store=boyesen&id=4&year=&manufacturer_id=4&vehicle_name=NSR+250&submit.x=36&submit.y=34

I've back to backed the Boysen's (dual stage), the Tyga carbons and the std ones (yes I do love removing my carbs, it's the best bit) and IMHO (no dyno proof, just how it felt) the carbon reeds were best and seemed to crispen the throttle quite a bit.

Sun May 13, 2007 12:37 am » Post: #15 » Download Post

Hi Fonty, thanks for the reply I was looking for... One question though, You liked the carbon best, Tyga or Boyesen(I believe they have them in carbon)

Cheers
