Hi,

I was just browisng the forum after going to nsr-world.com, becuase i am desperatley after an NSR for my learner legal licence, so once at the forum i wasj ust looking andto my surprise i saw you - a fellow tasmanian.

So hi my name is Mark and i was jsut wondering how did you find an NSR in tas? very lucky i guess, or unless you imported it? How much did you pay?

there has only been one that ive seen an NSR one pulling out of the kingston hardware a while ago (with brown packing tape to seal the exhaust can!!!)

Anyway, like most L/P plate bike riders i was annoyed at the fact that the largest displacement can be 260ml so, i settled for the fastest 250 learner legal (in Tas anyway Very Happy) the NSR 250 - i know heaps of mods where i can brdige certain electrics and rmove one of two components to unlock up to 60HP - with a deresticted airbox, exhaust and some tuning. Even better i can mill the head down (i a lathe, mill, etc) (or use a thinner headgasket) to achive more compression, this also means i should use octane bootser buy hey, more power Very Happy.

BTW here is a good and cheap "mod" for anybike - add 0.781cc of pure acetone to each litre of petrol, this makes it vaporise better (breaks surface tension of petrol) and makes for torque and power due to an even/faster burn. However, im not sure of using it in a 2 banger due to the oil in the fuel...would the acetone dissovle and or distort its lubricating properties????

Anyway, what turned out to be a few questions ended up to be a who thread...ahwell i better head of now.

PS - Dont worry 60 hp 2 bangers for a learn bike will be fine - im experianced and are tall (186cm - 6'3") aND weigh 220 pounds so the bikes power should be tame - well enoguh for me - its a 2 storke - u buy them for their harsh power and guranteed adrenalin rush (well i do Smile)

Hey, welcome to the forum... ahhh so many questions Laughing ... well the first thing i will say is pacients is the key to getting an nsr into tassie. it took me 3-4 months to find one then another month to get it registered. i found mine in melbourne, on www.bikesales.com.au. was abit worried about buying a bike i haddent ridden but i had no choice. i then got it shipped over on the ferry ($330). Once it arrived the hard bit started, trrying to get it registerd, i wont go into it because its a long story but what i will say is if you do get one from interstate make sure IT IS CURRENTLY REGISTERED!!!!! i absolutly love mine to pices and (imo) is the best looking and definatly the quickest 250 in tassie. hear are some pics of her

http://www.bikepics.com/members/mc21man/92nsr250/

I will bring her over to show you if you want to see one in real life before you buy one (once i replace the wheel bearing which decided to eat itself today Sad )

good luck with it and pm me if you want to catch up.. cheers

I was just wondering why you said to make sure its registerd? Is that to indicate its condition? or to save the one month waiting time...BTW- is the one month waiting each time you register or just from the first time you do it?

One major concern i have is spares? Could i just go to my local honda dealer and order spares?

Im sorry to pepper you guys in questions, but this is all new to me and i need the have a really good reason to convince my self Very Happy to get one and if its worht the fuss...

Once again thanks in advance Very Happy
