nsr facts

Sun May 21, 2006 11:21 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

I will be putting my '16 into a classic show soon and I am looking for any obscure facts that will make Joe Public say " wow " when they read the factsheet I will be attaching to the bike. I know that a Gp motor will bolt in (more or less) without too much trouble, try that with a fireblade! Does anyone know roughly how many nsr's there are in the uk? I would guess about 200 or so. Thanks for any help.

Have you read the model history on the main site?

How about Jamie's site, he has some pretty good info on there too.

I'd say check out my site Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Cool things to attach to your profile sheet for a show??? How about something like this taken right from my site......... It replaced the older NS 250 R that was getting out dated. Honda was winning big time with it's NSR racers so Honda released a replica version for the street. It was almost a complete replica of the factory racers. It was light weight and quick. The engine was basically a NSR 500 racer engine cut in half.

That sounds cool, bike based on old GP bikes, the MC16 have some of the coolest seats arounds. There are almost no mint and original MC16 bikes around so even the price of nice, clean originals are going up. These bikes started it all for us.

Check these links
http://www.dreamgate.ne.jp/nsr/specs/mc16specs.html and here
http://www.dreamgate.ne.jp/nsr/catalogs/mc16catalog.html and here too http://www.dreamgate.ne.jp/nsr/general/history.html and select your choice, there should be LOTS of info there. Go ahead and grab some images from there, maybe you can mention my little websites name at the bottom.

Cheers,
Jamie

I heard that as Jamie says Honda were so pleased with the NSR factory bikes that they made the street bike (MC16), which was in turn so good that they basically used a modified street NSR engine for their production RS250 GP bike in a more racey chassis, Hence why the RS250 has a blanked off 2T oil pump. The only people who have tried using a street based engine in Grand Prix since then that I know of are WCM (allegedly...maybe....so it was said). Wink

Hi all
Mmmmm....WCM. I'm grateful I had the opportunity to hear the MotoGP WCM at Phillip Island.
I hoped the rumoured Blata WCM would eventuate, sadly, just a wish.

As well as the oil pump, when you inspect the RS250 cases you can even see where the have tried to blank off the kick start assembly.

Well the show was yesterday and whilst I didn't win anything I did have lots of interested people saying "wow" when they read the factsheet (thanks Jamie for the use of your site info). People were even more impressed as it was displayed opposite the stand with an ex Joey Dunlop RS250R on it, allowing show goers to compare road and track. Joey bike was the 1988 TT winning machine that broke the 20min barrier for the 250 class giving him his 12th victory. I took a pic but don't know how to post it, not very it lit.! can anyone tell me how please?
