Limited Edition Racing Prints?

Wed Jun 14, 2006 9:48 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

So I am in the process of putting together a semi nice collection of some of what I feel are the best racers of all times. This thread is not to be a debate of which racers are in that list, but a thread to find high quality prints (signed/limited editions if possible) to put up in my bar (I get to decorate that room in my new house Smile ).

I have found a very nice Kevin Schwants, and would like to have a Mick Doohan to go with it. Also a Wayne Rainey would be nice.

Here is the quality/style I am looking for:

The only decent (not super expensive) ones I have found of Doohan are in Australia. Not to pick on Australia, but their mail system isn't nearly as fast as their Motorcycle racers are, and I don't feel like waiting for 6 months to get my print.

So if anyone has a good link for a store in the US, or UK let me know, I would like to get my collection put together and my bar/media room completed so I can enjoy it when I am not out mowing the property, or working on the house.

Thanks

oh ye... forgot to mention. Repsol is my first option, but Rothmans would be an okay second choice.

Found these in the UK...they're pretty good. He even has some of the originals for sale, but they cost around 2 grand!

C, I found a gentleman in England that is VERY talented. So much so, That I compare all other racing art to his. Art-works-uk.co.uk Or do a search for Alan Jones Art. Much of his work is still available, at a reasonable price. Much of his really nice stuff is sold-out. It can be a bit tough to judge some of his work on the sight, but when you open it....WOW! I mean WOW! absolutely beautiful work. (Example of "The Kid" Nicky Hayden, The print "almost" looks like a photograph at home)

Bring some good photos to Vietnam or Thailand and have some drawings or oilpaintings made at a reasonable price.

You could have some made with yourself on the bike Very Happy

Griff thanks for the info on the one artist. Very nice work.

Poul, as I mentioned I was looking for some of the best racers in motorcycle racing. I unfortunately do not come close unless the opposite end of the scale has been moved Wink

Try here http://www.crossbow-calendars.co.uk/acatalog/Motorcycle_Art.html
I have quite a few Steve Whyman prints, and the airbrushed front & rear views of Mick Doohan on the Repsol NSR are stunning.

Ye, I had come across some of steve whyman's prints in my searches and in fact he was one of the ones I was thinking I would get.

You scared me for a second as I ended up in the original section and almost pissed myself on the costs Shocked

But then I found the print section and was okay.

I ended up going with this one:

Thanks!

Got a Wayne, a Kenny, Kevin and now Mick to finish off my collection. That and a "On Any Sunday" movie poster. Now if I can talk Tam into letting me make the RS250 and NSR250 the center peices of the room (so I don't need to park them in the garage) I'll be all set Smile

Okay, so I got the Doohan print today. Problem was it was the rear view and not the front view.

Simple friendly email sent to Crossbow Calendar letting them know of the problem and seeing what can be done about it.

Within 2 minutes I get a response. Sorry for the mix-up, the proper print will be in the mail tomorrow.

Wow, talk about customer service!

Oh and the quality of the print is very nice. Can't wait for the front view and get it mounted and up on the wall in the bar.

Thanks

Glad you like them. Are you going to keep the rear view print? They make a nice matching set!
