Next Round Donington 28 May - Still no Hondas Sad

Round 4 of the F250 championship, sponsored by www.corset-angel.com, brings us to the sweeps and curves of Donnington’s hallowed tarmac. We have another strong grid of two strokes and are expecting not only good racing between the 250’s but following on from three F400 wins at Cadwell by a 250, a 250 winning the F400 class here at Donnington.

Will we see anybody put a stop to Alan Armour’s dominance of the F250 series? Alan (RGV250), following on from his three wins at Cadwell Park (F250 & F400), starts as a clear favourite to win. The package of Alan, his beautifully prepared Suzuki VJ23 and Tex (Chris Gent’s father) as spanners/race manager are a formidable team.

The two most likely to challenge Alan are Mark Jordan (KR1S) and Steve Saint (RS250). Steve, who spent a fair bit of time bashing bodywork with the 750’s in the open 250 class at Cadwell, is finally getting over his mechanical gremlins (though he does need some new bodywork). Donnington is a circuit Steve knows well and barring those gremlins is confident of a good result.

After a very slow start to the season Mark Jordan definitely came alive at Cadwell. Four solid results including an F250 win kicked his season off, though he does need to work on his race fitness. Having comfortably led the last race on Sunday for 6 laps a certain F400 win evaporated as he tired and fell back in to the hands of the following pack.

Having shown terrific form at Mallory, this year’s young guns Ross Searle (RS250) and Ben Phillips (KR1S) were somewhat subdued at their first visit to Cadwell. However, we can expect them to be closer to the leaders here at Donnington as both these promising young riders having previously raced or tested at Donnington.
